I guess I was doing it wrong by throwing in a handful of pills and chugging it down with scotch.

EVERYTHING you drink has water in it to some degree. So you’re covered. :D

So many older Pluggers stop drinking a lot of fluids because of the running to the “Johnnie” result. My mom was a prime example and ended up in the hospital a few times for dehydration. This depiction was her for sure! MAYBE a cup of tea or juice and the water with her daily pills. It was hard to encourage her to keep a glass of water close by to sip on all day.

We have soda water on tap. The two of us go through a five-gallon keg in 4-5 days.

Water is essential for hydration and lubrication. It1. Lubricates your joints2. Forms saliva and mucous, helping dissolve food and keeping mouth, eyes, nose moist3. Delivers oxygen throughout your body4. Keeps skin healthy (dehydration makes you susceptible to skin disorders and premature wrinkling)5. Regulates body temperature6. Helps your bowels work properly (dehydration can lead to constipation and other digestive problems)7. Cushions your brain, spinal cord and tissues (dehydration affects your ability to think and reason)8. Flushes body waste9. Helps maintain blood pressure 10. Keeps airways working (when dehydrated, airways constrict, which can make asthma and allergies worse)11. Makes minerals and nutrients accessible throughout your body (they dissolve in water)12. Prevents kidney damage13. Improves performance (dehydration reduces performance in activities lasting more than 30 minutes)14. Helps you lose weight (when you ‘prodrink’ a glass of water before eating and drink it instead of sweetened drinks)15. Reduces the chance of a hangover (alternate between alcohol and water)A cup of coffee or tea equals 1/2 a glass of water.

I use a water bottle to track my primary intake and know the volumes of the various glasses I use with my meds and at meals.

I eat two breakfasts every day. I cook a bowl of oatmeal and take my medications. When those settle down, I cook bacon and eggs. I cook turkey bacon and egg sunnyside up. I scoop out the yolks to give to my cats. It makes them shiny-coated instead of clogging my arteries.
