And I don’t think this implies Satan is a lawyer

Whenever I see or hear “alleged”, I mentally translate it from Lawyerese to English as: “Absolutely, without a shadow of a doubt”!

My recall may be faulty, but I think “alleged” in media reports started to become prevalent about the time Miranda rights were instituted.

If Dante came back today, he’d have to invent whole new levels of hell.

One of the levels would be an isolated location and NO Wifi.

“When I think of the beauteous descriptions of the abode of the saints, and when I recollect that many noble witty, genial souls have died ‘unregenerate,’ I must answer you, sir, that, while, doubtless, Heaven has the best climate, Hell has the best society.” Attributed to Emory A. Storrs by Isaac E. Adams in an 1886 book entitled Life of Emery A. Storrs: His Wit and Eloquence.

“Alleged” is a pretty important word if you are the one accused of something that is spread all over the news and then you are proven innocent.

I’ve seen this carried to ridiculous extremes, as in “the victim was allegedly killed”, which might’ve been OK if they’d added “by the prime suspect”, but no, it was just left at the corpse having been allegedly killed.

A vast majority of lawyers are good people helping other good people, not criminal scumbags. A friend’s lawyer husband died earlier this year, and she was stunned to get condolences from clients of his from many years ago who told her about how he’d saved their futures and how kind he’d been to them.

“Hell is never what you expect it to be”, was the Devil’s response to a newly arrived soul. This soul (a violent biker dude) wanted to see the fire, the torture racks, the boiling oil, the monsters, etc. But he wound up in a room with a tourist couple showing their 85,000,000 slides of their trip to Tijuana (all the same). Oh, and the Devil told him that the same room exists ‘up there’.

The size of the “Allegedly Bad” tunnel indicates that they have had to enlarge it to handle more traffic than the plain “Bad” tunnel.

Possibly because it usually takes Six Lawyers to defend one “Bad” person in court.
