Didn’t they come out with red licorice? I wouldn’t know, because I can’t stand it, either.

Yep. Red Vine brand red licorice.

Black licorice is quite good actually. Then again, I’m Dutch so I grew up with the stuff.

Good black licorice is great. But, I really question the ingredients. I mean, I live in Japan, so I know what rice is. But I’ve never heard of a lico species.

Black licorice is the ONLY licorice. It is a flavor that comes from a plant. All those red and purple and pink “vine” candies are NOT licorice, because they aren’t licorice flavored.

I don’t like licorice in general. I prefer Starbursts, or chocolate.

Anise literally makes me gag.

Kevin has the same attitude toward sugar that I have towards booze.

In the US, REAL licorice is hard to find, most of it is anise flavored, with dye that blackens your teeth. Switzer’s used to have a yummy soft chewy sort. (I just looked for it online, seems like it’s sold by the case, and looks like black twizzlers.I’ll have to admit I’ve seen tiny packs of other brands that are too expensive for me to consider.

So much racism.

Sadly, most American licorice is just anise-flavored candy made with flour. Real licorice made with actual licorice root is delicious and very hard to find.

Tastier than red licorice, but I like to alternate them at the same eating for renewed flavor.

I love a good black licorice. Licorice is the one candy I can eat so much of I will make myself sick. I have finally learned some self control. I really dislike that red stuff.

The old story from the (now) disgraced Bill Cosby was about how when he was a kid, the floor of the movie theater was littered with old and sticky black Jujubes candy candy that nobody wanted.

I don’t like any kind of licorice, and Twizzlers aren’t licorice. They’re rope-shaped gummy bears.

All licorice is black. The other ones aren’t licorice.
