Here’s my view: All of us have a judge and a fixer, and a toddler, and a victim, and many other selves riding the bus together. They all make noise and get triggered by life. It’s okay that they are on the bus…
…The question to ask in any given moment is: Who’s driving the bus?
The only thing that works for me (sometimes) is to let the thoughts flow through my mind without doing anything about them or resisting them, just letting them flow by like a river. It’s a well-known style of meditation called “mindfulness”. It doesn’t mean it’s easy or that I’ve mastered it!

This is why I invented one voice in my head just to yell at the intrusive thoughts.
Not sure if it helps overall, but it’s hard to hear intrusive thoughts over top of my “RARGH!” voice.

intrusive thoughts are terrifying, it’s so hard to remember that I’m not the awful things my mind creates
