Elizabeth thinks, “Grandmas are like that”. Does she mean not complaining is an attribute of grandmas, or does she mean that “Grandmas do not have to complain if they can get the grandpas to do it for them.”?

Now the grand parents can get down to the business of spoiling the kids and telling them those “funny” stories about when Mom, or Dad, was young. …revenge is a dish best served with icecream.

My own grandmother was a rock. When I was a kid I firmly believed if my grandma couldn’t do something, it couldn’t be done.

I was lucky enough to have 3 wonderful Grandmas (biological father’s mom, adoptive dad’s mom, and mom’s mom) as well as 4 great-grandmas growing up. They’re all gone now. The last one, my Oma (mom’s mom), died last March 23, the day after my birthday. I cannot begin to describe how much I loved her, nor how badly I miss her now. As the oldest grandchild, it has fallen to me to transfer all her photographs to thumb drives for the rest of the family. I sit here surrounded by photo albums, 3 of which are dedicated solely to me, with tears in my eyes, missing one of the greatest women that I ever knew.

All of my grandparents died long before I was born. Judging by how my parents turned out, I suspect that I would not have liked the grands very much, especially the maternal grandfather.

The greatest influence in my life and the person I was closest to growing up was my grandmother.

I want to know why Elly hasn’t visited her mother at all before this, when she knows her mother has been sick for so long?

Don’t ever refer to me as “Dear”. I hate it.

Parents don’t complain either, the kids take up to much time to complain, and when they are gone, there’s no one to listen, so we don’t.
