You seem to forget that the bed belongs to the kitty cats. The only reason they allow you to sleep in that bed is so they can decide which part of you to eat first when you’re asleep.
My cat sleeps over my head, between the headboard and pillow. He bops me on the head about 5 AM (i.e., “cat food o’clock”), and then comes back to bed after he has breakfast.
My mom always believed that there wasn’t that much difference between people and other animals. She knew that humans had some abilities other animals don’t have but their behavior wasn’t that different.
Today’s strip reminds me of an episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show that I watched one day while I was home from school as the result of a sick day. In the episode, Rob and Laura’s son Richie had a pet duck that was sick. Rob took the duck to the vet and, when he got there, a man with a dog and a lady with a cat were in the waiting room. The man was making a fuss over his dog, treating his dog like it was his child. After he and the dog were called in to see the vet, Rob and the lady with the cat were talking. Lady with the cat: “Isn’t that silly, him treating his dog like a person? A dog is a dog and a duck is a duck.” Rob agreed and then the lady picked up her cat and said, “And a cat is a person!”. I remember laughing myself silly when I heard that because I could imagine my mom—the ultimate cat person—saying the exact same thing.

Give it up Dan. You won’t convince her that cats aren’t people.

Don’t be insulting, any cat will tell you people are inferior to cats.

Babies is not quite correct, though. Eternal toddlers is closer.
