another good reason to leave the excess of the vintage alone – one does things one would never do if not for the influence of the fermented grape. and the ghost of Mardi Gras’s past will haunt you once a year with its hangover.
One night some friends and I went a little further down Burbon Street than we should have. My friend saw a lot of people on the balcony and they throwing beads at couples who would show. After my friend “MOONED” them, they yelled they would throw us all beads to get him back up Burbon Street.
One thing I do wonder here, is where Janis went to college. I don’t think this bead thing is prevalent most places. I never heard of it until I worked in a Texas photo lab, and was printing Mardi Gras pictures from tourists.
Having gone to Mardi Gras in the late 90s a few things: 1) Beads, and very fancy ones, are currency. 2) Don’t drink so much that you have to use a port-a-potty on the parade routes (my friends learned that the hardest way). 3) It is just my opinion, but I suspect the flashing of the ta-tas has diminished in the age of smartphones and uploads to the internet which is understandable. A brief moment of wild abandon need not be lived forever.
I looked at the Bourbon Street webcam last night. There were 3 cars (that I could see) parked there, and nobody else at all. I suspect the cars were unmarked police cars, enforcing the ban on revelers. Other nights this week, including tonight, there are a few couples and very small groups and singles wondering the street, wearing warm clothes. Yep, it’s been cold there, too.

OK.Either:1. Arlo didn’t stock up enough beads.2. Janis was pretty wild in college.
Also, which year was that Janis, Freshmen, Sophomore, Junior or Senior?

Janis was the kind of girl in college who would not given me a second glance. She would have been way out of my league.

Janis? Wipe the foo-foo dust from your eyes. It’s the 21 Century and you’re ratting yourself out to your roommate at the breakfast table …

for those unfamiliar with Mardis Gras traditions, young ladies are rewarded for “flashing their boobs” with additional strands of beads.

Did she get them from the students in the life drawing class?

There is still an episode of Girls Gone Wild, from the 80s, floating around that stars Janis.
