Note to Ches. You are last on my list for Valentines!
I used to dread Valentine’s Day in school. We had to give our Valentines to the nun, who would read whom they were for. I was always petrified I wouldn’t get any. I never got the most, but I never got the least either. Its a good thing that kids today have to give everyone a card.
Today (Thursday) Misty is in the vet for several tests to try and get to the cause of her breathing issues. She’s actually spent the night in the vet as I’m working today, plus it’s somewhat easier on me if she isn’t trying to beg for food all through the night (She’s going to be anaesthetised). We’ve decided to do X-Rays, cameras, and biopsies (If required).
I’m hoping we can find out what’s going on with her breathing, and that it’s treatable.
National Peppermint Patty Day. They’re talking about the candy, not the Peanuts comic strip character.
National Inventor’s Day
National White Shirt Day. My favorite white shirt is a sweat shirt with a picture of a cat on it. The writing on the shirt says, “No outfit is complete without cat hair”
National Shut-In Visitation Day. Sadly, that is still considered a no-no.
As most of us have heard, Queen of America received a discarded mink coat and has been remaking it into her famous and fabulous kitty pads. Here are some photos of the process, along with her narrative:
“I have just two finished because I have to keep vacuuming up the fluff and Brad was sleeping a lot yesterday. He got his second vaccine shot on Tuesday and it knocked him for a loop.
Taking the coat apart has been interesting. 98% is hand sewn. The only machine stitching so far is in the lining of the sleeves. The first lining is just a camo colored piece of cotton. It has elastic around the cuff, which I assume was meant to keep the wind from blowing up the sleeve. The second lining is the brown satin. It does not have any elastic. I’m not a dress maker so had no idea how many pieces of pelt it would take to make a sleeve but there are quite a few.

I used flannel for the backing. It’s certainly not perfect like my kitty mats but sewing with this stuff isn’t easy – at least not for me.

This must have been who it was made for. I don’t think she was a small woman because I put on the coat and my guess is that she must have been about a size 20 or so. I can just picture a “sturdy” woman in 1940 with long gloves and a diamond bracelet."
Depending on how many I can get out of this thing, I’ll keep one or two for my foster babies. The rest are going back to Dr Susan for her fosters, since she gave me the coat.
This I just finished taking out all of the lining. I cannot imagine how long it took a furrier to make a coat like this. I think there were 8 little, covered hooks. There were two strips/loops of satin, which I suppose was for the hangar. There were 8 little, covered hooks. Two were for hanging it up and the others were closure hooks. I remember the ones on my mothers fur coat being just like these. She got hers from her mothing in MN and the only time I remember mymother wearing it was when we lived in St Louis and it snowed. Once we got to CA, it was relegated to the back of a closet. I know it wasn’t mink but some other poor animal.
Well, the vet did X-Rays of her chest, neck, and head, plus they also inserted a (very) small camera up her nose and a slightly larger one in through her mouth and up the back of her nasal cavity. They did swabs of her nasal cavity, and also did a nasal ‘flush’. The runoff of the flush, and the swabs have been sent to a lab for culture testing. We’ll get the results from the lab in due course.
First the good news; they didn’t find anything nasty, no tumours, no parasites, or anything foreign that could be causing the breathing issues. The bad news is they didn’t find anything to cause her breathing issues. We’re pinning our hopes now on the lab results showing up some sort of infection. In the meantime we have a course of steroids, and human-grade antibiotics to start and continue with. If they clear everything up, we’ll have to wait and see.

That cat is just too sweet and happy to be one of the warehouse denizens.

My, that is such a sweet kitty. (Albeit a little self centered.) On another note, saw a sparrow and four varied thrushes while out walking today.
