Kim Carnes released a song called “Crazy In the Night”. The song opened with footsteps getting louder, a knock on a door, and a whispered, “Who is it?” I bought the 45 when it came out, brought it home, and went into my dad’s office to listen to it. My brother’s dog, Benji, joined me. He heard that opening…and ran for the door, barking!

Odie just doesn’t understand that that’s the title of the show. Also, with all the talk of Lyman, we’ve not seen him in the strip since 1983 (with exemption of a small cameo in the title panel in the June 19, 1988 strip, and also the time he actually appeared in a two-part episode of “The Garfield Show”).

Like Garfield has told us MANY times: Odie is stupider than stupid.

Garfield would never meet Jon at the door unless Jon was carrying pizza or lasagna.

My German Shepherd had a vinyl hedgehog toy he loved. He also know it was his hedgehog by name. When the old Sonic the Hedgehog commercials would come on the TV, he’d always look when they said Hedgehog at the end of the commercial. :) I miss that dog.
