Introvert me never had a social life, so of course I never had a social media life. Commenting on GoComics is pretty much the extent of my online life.
I have Linked-in and Facebook. I check the latter once a week to see if any of my 13 friends and relatives have posted any pictures of their kids. I’ve posted on it about 5 times in the last 10 years, myself.
Not sorry to say we don’t use any of the online social tools. At our age, looking for friends on social media would be a sad exercise. There are very few left and we are alike in that we prefer handwritten letter and homemade cards, phone calls held a quiet room, and, for the few that have made the transition to pc usage, emails. [We live too far apart for visits, even in the pre-pandemic years]
But not using the chatter channels has its advantages. No inane – and insane – political burpings, no third party cookies, no stranger slams, no tracking, no screen clutter, no one throwing up ads they have chosen just for us, i.e., no one trying to control our lives in the guise of improving them, while trying to drain our accounts, and less irritation all around. All good things to lose.

Assuming I had a pre-social media brain.

But, that’s just us, and we are good with it.

According my (older) mother she doesn’t use technology, doesn’t like computers . . . and is on social media several hours a day.
