Hardly new behaviour, I remember parents trying to get their kids onto my team in a 6 year olds house league to get them more exposure to my father who coached the 10-11 yo elite team.
When we were kids (yeah I know), we didn’t belong to organized sports. All of us would play around the neighborhood without adult supervision (gasp!). We made our own rules and settled our own arguments. Teach your children to be sensible and responsible and they won’t let you down.
I used to think that all these little league jokes were overstating the situation. Then I got a boyfriend who coached Little League and it was so much uglier than I ever imagined.

If this happened in reality, it would be shocking but somehow not surprising.
