Now imagine Mom’s face when she realizes THIS is what Calvin was doing all night instead of watching TV like normally.

Let’s just stand here…..and think things over.

Calvin’s questioning his happiness and ability to do anything important shouldn’t be generalized to the human race.

Blame it on video games.

I give up: too much difficult questions.

Calvin waxes poetic.

Calvin is talking like a philosophy major I knew in my freshman dorm at FSU after he knocked back a few quality beverages or perhaps imbibed in his room mates Turkish water pipe. Man that guy came up with some real abstract concepts at time, but on occasion he did get everyone to think a bit. Unfortunately the dude partied a bit too much and had to go back home and enroll in a state junior/community college to rebuild his GPA…

It bears repeating, Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.

Isn’t this the point where Watterson had to re-boot the strip?

Very thought-provoking, it reminds me of myself as kid in the ’60’s thinking as I’m walking that somewhere there was someone who could push a button and kill me. They didn’t know me. I didn’t know them. And they had that power. It scared the top line of the keyboard out of me I can tell you….

Watterson has claimed that he based Calvin on himself. Were the adults in his young life—especially his parents—really as awful as he depicted them in his strip?

The trick is to run around like mad inside the square, enjoying life as long as you can. :)

I was going to say that a young Neil deGrasse Tyson may have read this and it inspired him to use it for the Cosmic Calendar in the recent Cosmos series. But then I realized that Carl Sagan had invented it for the original Cosmos series, long before this strip.

Calvin is wise beyond his years.

Hmmm, seems to me Calvin needs some existential exploration.

Calvin misses more dinners this way. Hobbes is generally prepared with a snack.

It sorta bothers me when Calvin gets all existential. It makes me feel old..er.

This is way too philosophical for Calvin. I like his little boy personality. Not the adult creator’s.
