An ad says less than running the water the whole time you’re washing. Is it less than a sink of soapy water & one to rinse?

What about the total cost? Water vs electricity, Then there’s the time variant. Environmental cost of building the washer, capabilities of the machine vs person. And shipping. How do we account for all the costs. And the variables of what is being washed, washed off, the washer.Seems this is a difficult statement to prove or dis prove. And who leaves the water running? Rinse, scrub, rinse off.

I’d bet dishwashers are as big a source of argument amid the kids as washing by hand is. Who’s turn to load, who’s turn to empty, etc. etc.

After being a dishwasher in the school cafeteria I’ve learned you still have to hand wash dishes because all the dishwasher does is sanitize!!!

I’m still trying to figure out the other day when Baldo took the paper towels to the garage. Was the joke that his dad meant the pantry and can’t figure out why he had to buy paper towels so often?

Sorry, all you people who like automatic dishwashers but I don’t! Even in all the homes where I had a dishwasher, I preferred to wash dishes by hand – and still do. The only time a dishwasher sometimes came in handy was cleaning up after a large dinner party.

The trick is not to let all the dishes, pots & pans, glasses, etc. pile up in the sink. I clean as I go when I cook so I only have the dishes, silverware, and glasses to wash, after the meal.

We have an arrangement in our house, whoever cooks, the other does the washing up.

buy paper plates and throw them away after each meal if you don’t want to load a dish washer which can be more time consuming than actually washing them yourself. (yes, i know that paper plates aren’t good for the environment).

The dishwasher being more efficient is if you’re able to fill it and run it right away, before the food dries on the plates.

Wait. They had an automatic dishwasher all this time? What the heck? What’s the complaint here? Loading is faster and easier than hand washing, plus you get the sanitizing if your water temp is set at or above 120.

Plus my dishwasher sterilizes at a temperature above what even gloved hands can tolerate, 160F IIRC.
