I missed most of my first total solar eclipse (1983) because I was trying to photograph it… There was no way I was going to get better pictures than the pros with the right equipment. What a waste…I didn’t make the same mistake with the next one (2017). I took only one photo at full eclipse and sat back and enjoyed the rest of the experience.
My wife and her sibs rebelled when their father wanted to take their picture in front of Old Faithful while it was erupting – they wanted to see it. Decades later she and I did get that picture, but we had stayed at the Inn all night, enabling us to see several eruptions first.

Someday, Gabby, you might walk into a fountain by accident. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPrinD3Fb74

Funny, that’s what I think when people spend their time smiling at their phone while ignoring the beautiful sight behind them they came to visit.
