Maybe…since it isn’t speaking (“little cat…etc”), this Topsider has been “infected” but is acting on its own. Once this Topsider’s mind has decayed enough, then maybe “Eye” can get in and take control. Will it eventually be puppet master to a group of bodies? Or will it hop from one to another? Neither case will be much fun for Wally, Alan, and Duffy.
Where are the dittos? I haven’t seen them since Wally and his friends dropped into the Topsider’s lab. I hope they didn’t get left behind in Toothbrush world. That would not be good for our main characters.
Well, we’ve learnt one thing – the madness/Eye cannot be kept out by locked doors. There is literally no place of safety for our heroes. Maybe Alan can use that elephantine bulk against the attacker? Maybe Duffy can wave his “haint charm” about?
“I want to speak with your manager! I’m giving this place a terrible review on Yelp!"
Joking aside, it looks like Eye’s first two victims were just tests to see if he could meddle with topsiders through their visors, and then get them to kill on command. Looks like he succeeded in being able to implant his suggestions in their minds.
Once again, I’ve not paid attention and missed the drop of a new episode! Oh, our Storyteller is so very unpredictable…but then, doesn’t that help make the story fu?
I have donated the text of the Endtown RPG http://i.4pcdn.org/tg/1582758758669.pdf to the Memory of Mankind https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_of_Mankind so our 50,000 greats grandchildren can roleplay in Aaron’s wonderful world.
It’s eerie that the Topsider isn’t saying anything. Just a potentially lethal swipe with that zero scalpel. (Which apparently is standard Topsider-issue.)
The next volume will likely be out in about a year, and will end with this arc. The next arc will be long and fill vol 6. Then the story will shift focus (email from Aaron). I can hardly wait!

I wonder if the Eden project is going to implode, taking everybody with it except for our heroes and the people that Marx and crew extracted?

Wally must be at the end of his endurance; he’s usually much calmer in the face of danger.

Interesting suggestion: Topsiders kill mutants because the “eye” has made them mad?
And as yet, Wally has no idea that this once “friend” has just become his ultimate “foe”!

Chill, Wally. The first cut’s the deepest. After that, it’s all downhill.

A couple of days back I posted: “I hope someone has a Zero Scalpel.” A) This is not what I meant. B) I both retract and regret the statement.

Ok…so if Eye-madness is transmitted be the topsider ‘Ethernet’, maybe Wally can rip off this Topsider’s antenna?
