What the anti-maskers say to our most vulnerable around the world everyday. Pandemic fatigue is no excuse for dismissing science in order to spout out phrases like, “I can do what I want. I live in a free country.” Other countries are putting the U.S. to shame. Actually, even before this pandemic it wasn’t uncommon in certain countries to wear a mask if one felt that she or he might be contagious from a cold, etc. The vaccine is here, but it’s not widely available for many yet, in particular people of color and the rural elderly. Today’s FA triggered this vent. I’m glad. People are still dying and we have failed as a nation to act selflessly. Our government downplayed the seriousness of COVID and even promoted unsound and untested remedies. We verbally tried to blame other countries for exporting this virus, yet it has spread here and we have lost more people than any other country. (Brazil is a close second; correct me if I’m wrong.)

I had my heart set on a long, slow, lingering, very painful and quite vocal demise, but I may reconsider now.

I shout this in my mind to so many public figures these days.

If you STFU isn’t it axiomatic you’ll die quietly?
