National Goof Off Day. I can do this: They changed my days off at work. Where I used to have a set schedule with Saturdays and Tuesdays off every week, this week, I’m getting Monday and Thursday off. So I do plan on doing some goofing off today. But I also plan on raking the yard and ding some other work (laundry, etc.).
I saw a deer while driving home from work last night. I saw her standing by the highway, so I slowed down, then even came to a complete stop (there were no cars behind me). I looked at her and she looked at me for a couple seconds, then she turned and calmly walked away.
I found out yesterday that a former co-worker (well, I didn’t work with her – she was in apparel while I’m in garden center/seasonal) was just diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. We had heard before the cancer was stage 3 and they were going to operate on her, then do chemo. Stage 4, I don’t know what her options are or what she’s going to do. I’m so mad at cancer. It has taken so many people (and a few cats) that I know. Billie’s prognosis is not good from what I heard.
Last week I started to make my bed, looked out the window at the birds bathing in the small bird bath (hose flung over a branch dripping into a saucer), and went outside to dug a pond. It’s not filled yet, I’ve been busy weeding, and need to collect more pebbles and rocks to cover the bottom. Focusing on one task at a time is impossible for me.
I’m a very tidy sleeper so all I have to do is get out and pull the covers over the area I was in. The cats are the one who mess up the bed. I make it easy for them, though. I have several small quilts I made out of scraps that I keep on on the bed and they just crawl under those.
I make my bed daily. This morning Oliver jumped and bounced on a colorful folded covering I have below the pillows. What a mess! If Tyler joins in I sometimes have to remake it in it’s entirety. (I was late serving them breakfast and deserved it).
At least he gets it done. Who cares how long it takes? Good poem. On another note, saw fifteen robins, eighteen juncos, a towhee, a wren, and a varied thrush today. It was bright and sunny out, which might account for all the birds.

In this house, you can’t make your bed until you are ready to get into it, or it will be quickly rumpled.

It’s not being lazy. It’s trying to get the cats out long enough to make the bed.

I started to make my bed, looked out the window at the snow falling continuously, and wanted to jump right back in.
