Mr. or Mrs. van Pelt sure made Linus feel uneasy.

Be glad that this is long before “smart” phones. Otherwise Linus’s parent would be texting him continuously all day long. (At least they seem the type who would do so.)

Linus, be glad that your mom loves you enough to care about you. Some parents don’t give proper guidance/discipline to their kids, when they are young .. leading to unfortunate outcomes.

Prescient advice in panel 4. In the big move to use of sunscreen, there is concern now that we are not getting enough natural Vitamin D via the sun and that getting some for about 10-15 minutes is okay. But please correct me if I am wrong as I don’t want to be posting bad info.

My mom’s letter in my lunch would be more like this…“Daughter, you may take your time coming home today. And any day.”

He’s doing better than his mom thinks. He’s without his security blanket.

Woman in the grocery store a while back, wearing a “GOT GUILT?” t-shirt.

I asked, “Catholic, Jewish, or white liberal?”

She’d forgotten what shirt she had on.

Momma Baker didn’t perfect the guilt trip until I was an adult. Luckily, my superpower is ignoring guilt trips.

Gulp it down fast and hope it doesn’t leave an aftertaste, Linus!

I suspect Linus’ dad has too much time on his hands if he can write a full letter as a lunch note instead of just giving Linus this advice in-person.

I haven’t seen Charles Schulz draw an adult since he illustrated Art Linkletter’s “Kids Say the Darndest Things.” I’d seen word balloons from Linus’ mother in the comic (she was “off-camera”). The comic today shows the longest message from an adult I’d ever seen in a “Peanuts” strip. And of course in the animated cartoons we’d hear a horn playing what a teacher or other adult was saying (other comics such as “Off the Mark” would make fun of this).
