Patty still has a problem. A little thing like MONEY. And $20.00 was a lot of money to a kid in 1974, (look between panels 1 & 2 for the date of today’s strip). So where is she going to get the money. Also is Lucy going to get her ears pierced too?
This is blasphemous for Peanuts, but sometimes I wish we could see some of the parents dealing with their kids. We’d get hilarious interactions like what’s written in the letter, for Lucy at least.
Here’s a link to a story about some non-Peanuts strips that Charles Schulz produced. They’re on display at the Schulz museum in Santa Rosa, Calif. https://www.washingtonpost.com/arts-entertainment/2021/05/31/charles-schulz-hagemeyer/
I really wish Schulz had done more arcs with Lucy and Patty, as I am enjoying this immensely. I would also have liked to see some with Sally and Schroeder :)
That letter may make the nurse sceptical. This bunch of young ones sure know how to get things done without parental guidelines. Albeit, forging signature does not auger well.

Although it is a little exaggerated.

Actually, that’s pretty much what Lucy’s mom writes anyhow.

As if the piercer will fall for that, Lucille and Patricia.

No doubt she’ll sign it, “Patty’s Mother”, since she probably doesn’t know the woman’s name.

They’re too young to go to jail for forgery.

Anybody who knows Lucy would believe that’s genuine.

How does Lucy know so well what a fed-up mother sounds like.

Marcie’s looking kind of queasy in the final panel…

Now you just need the REAL signature of a fed up mother

It always makes me sad that Peppermint Patty does not have a mom.

Looks like Lucy needs to be told the definitions of “forgery”, and “felony”.

Yeah, that’s probably how fed up my mother was with me nagging for pierced ears.

I think we should view Marcy’s face as showing what is the problem with Lucy being duplicitous.
