Reminds of one time on Martha’s Vinyard. One fellow’s boat had a centerboard (rather than a keel), which he raised in order to get in close to the beach. Another fellow with a fancy yacht saw how close the first boat was to the beach, assumed that the charts were wrong, and drove his own keel into the sand.
Had something like this happen when I worked for the company that managed the airport parking facilities in Milwaukee. A guy assumed it was just his antenna hitting the low overhang warning bar and not the roof of his truck and then proceeded to get stuck in the entrance of the parking garage.
I’m a retired truck driver…..I’ve seen many trailer roofs peeled back like ‘sardine cans’, (The way they use to be opened with a key). I’ve also seen a lot of trailers broken in half.
An overseas project I worked on had big expensive ($MultiMillion) electronic systems trailers shipped from St. Louis to New Orleans. The shipping company crashed the first trailer into a bridge, and then a few weeks later, crashed the second trailer into the same bridge.

And therein lies the problem!! NEVER “assume” anything because it just makes an A$# out of you and me!!

Wow. Boaty Mcboatface is still a thing. They should have used it.

When I was a kid, a truck had to make a delivery where there was exactly one road in, and it had an overpass.
He let air out of all of the tires, giving himself three inches, crept under the bridge, and reinflated the tires.

I’m reminded of the time that “Candid Camera” posted on a door a sign that read “For Other People Only”.

This business about getting stuck under an underpass, and resolving the problem by letting the air out of the tires, is a classic brain-teaser.
