It’s been awhile (a couple months), but has it been so long we need a recap? I’d like more misadventures in the floor wax aisle if we’re going to stick with the grocery store, heh. Or maybe a custard pie fight in the bakery section, IIRC the store manager was looking it.
did we time warp?? they just met like a day ago and are getting married? or has walt been a sleep for months? This is not very good pacing and confusing as well
Please quit milking this “Gertie” sequence,…time to change the subject,…like a Rufus & Joel adventure, or Slim& Clovia,, or something,…we’re sick & tired of Gertie !
100: Today Walt gives Rachel his very meticulous instructions and details of how to care for Skeezix. This not being her first rodeo, the new nanny respectfully listens, but later tells baby Skeex that she may also rely on her own judgment on certain issues.
80: At least during the courtship years, Nina was something of a virtuoso in the way she could ‘play’ Skeezix, and keep him off balance.
75: Oh boy, it’s Chigger again. And naturally Wilmer gravitates right toward the grift. At least you get the feeling this new business relationship isn’t entirely on the up-and-up. Knowing their different approaches to business ethics in the past, will Wilmer leave his partner in the dark?
60: Gideon summons up a supreme moment of courage, and it looks like the question Judy was waiting to hear all along. (Though not the one Phyllis is going to like so much.)
So judging by all the comments saying “Didn’t Gertie just meet them in the store yesterday? Just how long was Walt asleep?!” as well as the reactions thereto, it appears that the key to enjoying this strip is to turn off your brain cells and lower all your expectations. Doesn’t speak very highly of the strip’s writing, but okay.
My avatar is what I could find, and I chose a name based on a bad pun posted with it on Facebook, but I could probably change it. After someone here made a comment that suggested “MTWallet” would be a good name, when I couldn’t figure out how to sign in on Comics Kingdom I decided to use that name and I added it to my name here. It works because on Comics Kingdom I comment most often on Mark Trail, which has been ruined by a new artist.
Now may be the time to change it, because I’m supposed to be Buzz Aldrin in this photo but Michael Collins, who made sure Buzz could come back from the moon, has died at 90.

Gert is wise to disavow any “fault” in case it goes sour later on.

“But, Gertie, you’re magical.”

A two-week engagement with someone you just met in the supermarket. That’s healthy.

Married? They haven’t had time to use up a carton of eggs yet! Holy Hallmark Movie, Batman!

That was quick. (And I’ll bet the marriage was quite a spectacle!)

Back in the day, way back. I used to read Gasoline Alley in the Sunday comics. I am talking back in the mid 40’s.
