Life at the Sargasso Post Office.

See, now THAT is a political cartoon.

In my state, they hold a “clean the beaches” weekend every year and every year they get lots and lots of tons of garbage. And every year it’s more than last year. And they never get it all.

A little more pollution and you can walk home.

I spent 3 weeks 300 miles off the Santa Barbara Coast on an oceanography research cruise and besides the “Flip” we followed as it drifted, I could have sworn there was no life on this planet. Not an airplane, ship or bird was to be seen. Except for the glow of the plankton in our prop wash at night there was nothing and certainly not any floating bottles or plastic.

The ocean is not your own personal “post office”

… Nor is it your own personal “circular file”.

Stop littering the sea!

Long ago I kept saying “don’t build bridges, just keep pouring cement in the water until it becomes solid”. Now it’s coming a reality with garbage.

Looks like they could just walk home.

That makes me sad, thinking how true it rings

The problem with litter in our oceans is it effect the fish, whales, turtles, etc! =~{

In the ’80s, a friend was crewing on a replica sailing ship. He threw a message in a bottle over the side. The following year he received a citation in the mail for littering a state beach. The next week he got a “Ha ha, just kidding” follow-up.

Seems I’m not alone at being alone

Sad but true. Why can’t people take care of their trash?

Maybe they can string enough of those plastic bottles together to build a raft?

He’s not sending a message, he’s hitting him with a bottle. Dinner is served.

Being stranded on an island will soon be a thing of the past.. you will be able to walk on the garbage to the nearest shore.
