Morning VillagersJust the other day StelBel ask me how to post Bing images. It seems fairly straight forward (for me at least). One thing that may cause a problem is a long URL. A URL like;http://ts2.mm.bing.net/images/thumbnail.aspx?q=4868006662243757&id=6218b3de0bcafc49164b6b54aa8b11aa&url=http%3a%2f%2fwww.pictures-of-puppies-and-dogs.com%2fimages%2fbreed%2fmschnauzer%2fpuppy%2fm_schnauzer_02.jpgprobably won’t work. Ok so here are the steps:

Locate the Bing image then click on it to open the image page.

Then right click on the image and select “Copy image location” (Firefox) to copy the URL.

Next in Notepad or word processor type <img src='

Then paste (ctrl + v) the URLhttp://my.voyager.net/~quadrant19/McGoohan-prisoner-tn.jpg

Then add ' width='200'> with no space between jpg and the quote.

So that you have<img src='http://my.voyager.net/~quadrant19/McGoohan-prisoner-tn.jpg' width='200'>

Copy and paste into your comment and you have;

So I’ll just be off then.

Wow…. thanks Six and Beviek for the birthday wishes…I’ve been a bit scarce in the Village…. actually on some of the comics too, I didn’t have much computer time while staying with my MIL, cos she keeps me busy….and then I came home so tired Sunday night.Out all day and evening yesterday.I think I did a couple of quick comments from my phone… but it’s kinda hard to be quick when we’re at the end of a long “comment day”.Much easier to scroll all 200+ comments on a PC than on a smartphone….do I’m glad it’s May now in the village!And I’m glad you guys seem to welcome me here — I was nervous the first time I “broke in”…Now I need a couple of days to do nothing but watch The Prisoner and then read all this information again and watch all these episode links!!Beviek, I know it’s become a trite thing to say by now, but despite her fame and beauty, I feel sorry for Marilyn Monroe.So bright but also so maltreated as a child, she single-mindedly created a persona for herself that satisfied her ambition, but didn’t bring her happiness.

Eldo — indeed, give yourself credit. You’ve been through a lot… and it this point you’ve thrown away all your crutches, and you’re not only still standing, you sound better every day….and through it all, you’ve never neglected to take care of Wilson.Hooray!I admire the fact that you and Ms. Beviek can walk as far as you can, even if you’re not quite back to it yet.

Just stopping in to say hello….don’t want you guys to think I’ve abandoned the place!I thought this was going to be a leisurely week for me…. time to watch some Prisoner episodes, plus some of the other clips here that I missed….catch up on e-mail.chat….Instead, since Monday I’ve had a bit of work (!) and two (!) friends have taken me to dinner for my birthday (albeit one was what I’d call fast food,) and two doctor’s appointments (nothing serious), among other things…So maybe next week….(See Eldo, I’m Eldojamicated too…. whatever that is! LOL)I haven’t been reading the comments at the current Andy Capp, so I know I miss a lot…I’ve been exhausted, so I go to the strips first where I’m more or less expected…Then I start falling asleep in my chair like some old person… so I do a few strips I can breeze through, cos they’re not “well attended”, so to speak.At that point, I don’t go to forums like Frog Applause or Andy Capp, or sorry to say, even this one, though I DO come here and READ all the comments….I’m just to wiped out to read the Frog Blog, follow links, or take part in complicated conversation….but I’ll be back to it all, as soon as I get a break!

Just a quick stop…. almost 2:30 am, but I wanted to say hello.Haven’t been posting here cos this week I’ve still been getting home late and circling quickly through the comics ….while also answering e-mail…. and nodding off in my chair.

The Village has been so dense with links to stuff to listen to or look at, I can’t make it halfway down the high street in the time I’ve got….Sigh…. I will catch up….I keep saying that, I know…but probably not tomorrow night cos I won’t be home early….soon.

I know I keep saying I’ll be back, and I WILL.A number of things going on….We’ve finally had sunny days, and the beginning of May always brings the start of summer events….of course every year I’ve forgotten…. so it takes me by surprise when there are four days in a row I have to be out and about.But it’s much better for me than sitting at the computer all day, so I make myself do it.I’ve also seen a doctor about my sleep problems, and he tells me to turn off the computer by midnight.Well, that ain’t gonna happen…. but I have been trying for 1 or 1:30.I’m used to posting at 2:30 and 3…. Sometimes I still do, I admit….but when I realise it, I tear my fingers away… and I’m suddenly cut off… only to lie in bed awake till 4 anyway…At least for now, though, I’m doing what I can. Gotta say I thought everybody knew ProfD’Anglais was Andrea@home, or I would have mentioned it.I recognised her style right off…. but…. There’s a way to tell for sure….When a person merely changes user names, instead of opening a new account, as she did, the profile number doesn’t change.I have a of of profiles bookmarked… especially if the person is a friend OR a troublemaker.Clicking on my bookmark for Andrea leads to her old profile, but with her new name.But even without a bookmark, you can still find it.It’s also how you look to see whether someone missing in the usual places has been commenting elsewhere…..OK…. This sounds complicated till you try it…. it gets easier….

Google the old name, using Google’s “site” operator.Here’s how it looks:“Username site:GoComics.com”

A space after the name, but none after “site:” with a colon.You don’t use the quote marks but you do need the dot com

This will usually bring up the user’s current profile.but in Andrea’s case it’s been too long… but some of the results are old pages where she made comments as Andrea.To the right of each result is an arrow you can’t see till you mouse over it….When you do, you’ll see the word “cached.”

Click on that word, not the link….Look for her name….Click on it…. and it takes you to her current page with her new name.Bingo!

Anyway, I been feeling bad cos I haven’t been in the Village for so long…I miss talking to you, Beviek!

But I’ve been super busy…. all last week I was out and about, and then I was out of town three days over Mother’s Day weekend, with less than usual computer access.

Mostly, though, I’ve been having severe sleep problems, and I’ve been trying to follow doctor’s orders to turn off all screens (monitor, TV, smartphone) by 1AM.If I come here first I don’t get to the comics and if I do them first I don’t get here…. You can see how well it works anyway by the fact that it’s now almost three -thirty…. But tonight I have an excuse in the fact that I was sound asleep in my chair for two hours…. sigh…That’s cos I was outdoors all day planting tomatoes! Yay!Good night all! I miss you!
