This is true. It is annoying enough to have to listen to all the sob stories but even worse when they factor in to deciding winners. We ALL have our own sob stories but very few of us ever get to tell them on national TV.
I’d love to watch the competitions, but between the contestant sob stories and judges trying to outclown each other, they’re unwatchable. Shut up and compete! Shut up and vote! Since none can follow this simple model, I’ll just keep watching Big Bang and Outdoorman reruns.
We stopped watching because of the sob stories. Now we won’t watch any shows that push social justice and virtue signaling. We’ve nearly weaned ourselves from tv.
That was the beauty of radio. There was nothing (Except commercials) to interfere from the music. No ham acting, pandering to the judges, and best of all no judges pandering to the audience.

I thought “Break a leg!” is an acting good luck trope.

Forget the leg. Hit him over the head and put him out of our misery.

Pal, I don’t think an S.O.B. story will get the result you desire.

Ya way tired of the poor me saga’s. Some act like they are the only ones who had problems and those problems are our problem

The fat lady’s singing, the show is over, and we don’t need to watch you.

Totally nailed the last season of AGT! And, as a side note, you can still read a poem even with a broken leg.

Feeling pretty glad I’ve never seen any of this stuff! :)

Sadly so true.
