Technically, Heaven is only a temporary destination. God created the Earth for us (Psalm 115:16), and he will hang out with us here (Rev 21). N. T. Wright talks about this in Surprised by Hope.

Actually the promise is a “new Heaven” and “new Earth” which will have to be as large as Jupiter unless those that pass are very few.
