Hey – it’s radio! They can ask Woof why he doesn’t speak and any one of the other cats can speak for Woof and nobody would know that it isn’t Woof speaking.
National Nurses Day. Hooray for nurses everywhere!
World Password Day
National Day of Prayer
National Beverage Day
National Crepe Suzette Day
National Day of Reason. The observance originated in 2003 in response to the perceived unconstitutional National Day of Prayer. According to the organizers of the day, the National Day of Prayer, “violates the First Amendment of The United States Constitution because it asks federal, state and local government entities to set aside tax dollar supported time and space to engage in religious ceremonies.”The day is a secular observance for atheists, humanists, and secularists set to coincide with the National Day of Prayer. It acknowledges that celebration occurs for those who do not recognize God or an established religion or faith. As for me, I’ll stick with prayer.
My little foster kittens are doing great. They had such a rough start (Dr Susan almost lost 2 of them) but she workedmagic and they’re all thriving. They eat like pigs, which is good because they need to gain weight.
I have a question for anyone who fosters, especially tiny newborns.
The one that Dr Susan put with the mama a week ago isn’t doing well. The mama only lets it nurse for maybe 2 minutes then she walks away. Her “real” babies are much older and starting to show interest in wet kitten food. Is it possible that mama thinks this baby is the same age as her own? Susan tries to bottle feed but it spits it out and cries, which makes mama run over to save it.
I spoke to the vet yesterday afternoon and we discussed the results from Misty’s CT scan. The results can be summed up in one word Cancer.
The cancer was in her lungs, her nasal cavity, and a mass was also detected in her abdomen. She had been off her food and treats for a couple of weeks, I initially put it down to the anaesthetic she’d been given for the CT scan, but it didn’t improve, and yesterday I couldn’t even tempt her with butter.
It was clear that there was no treatment available, and I wasn’t going to put her through chemo or radiotherapy anyway, and there was nothing else to keep her here except my own selfishness. Because her breathing issues were getting worse, and she wasn’t eating like she should be, I decided that today would be her final curtain call. She headed for the Rainbow Bridge at 5pm UK DST. She’s buried in the back garden, as I promised her that this was her Forever Home and she was coming home with me, in one of her favourite beds, with three of her toys, and a few treats for the journey.
She helped me through my cardiac episode three years ago, but I couldn’t repay the favour and make her well again. She was only thirteen and a half which is no age for a cat these days with the improved diet and medical treatment available. I feel broken, she was only with me seven and a half years.
I’m sorry for the sad news, I had hoped for a better outcome.
I just talked to my cousin, Becky. Her surgery yesterday to remove the lump from her breast went well. She’s still having some post operative pain and her pain killers are making her very tired, but otherwise, she’s okay. She won’t know for a couple weeks yet whether or not she’ll need chemo too. She again expressed thanks and amazement at all the well wishes from all of you here at Ten Cats. She’s very impressed to hear that well wishes are coming from all over the world, not just this country. I’ll keep you posted.
I’m out of town for Craig’s birthday today, and mine tomorrow. Thelma and Louise took my mind off everything for a few hours – then just as I’m heading to bed in the dark we had a nice earthquake. 4.2, not damaging but we always wait for the bigger one!

Little do they know that Wolf knows sign language. But he doesn’t know anyone else who knows sign language.

Go, Woof! (and didn’t he actually speak at some point?)

Reminds me of an old (very old) radio show where Harpo Marx (the silent Marx Brother) was the guest. Tricky.

To be fair, he didn’t say yes either. On another note, saw three robins while out walking today.
