0.1% That’s generous . The most I have been offered from a bank for savings is 0.02%. It goes up to 0.1 if I keep 10,000. in . And yes they do use your money to make over 5.0% . Banks are not worth it anymore.
it is depressing what the financial institutions are doing. the only things that give you a decent interest rate are things that tie up your money like cds, annuities, etc for years and if you are on a limited income they aren’t an option. credit union gives you better interest rates over banks but no financial institution gives you the rates we experienced in the 70s,80s, and 90s.
I kept the booklet for one of my kids’ savings account and it shows the interest rate starting at 4% and then a slow decline to 0.1%. We closed the kids accounts after that because it wasn’t worth it to save there. We then kept track of how much our kids saved and gave them 4% from our own pockets.

Yes, they give us .01% to use our money, and charge us anywhere fro 6 to 30% to use theirs.
