National Visit Your Relatives Day. National Visit Your Relatives Day on May 18th encourages family members to stay connected. Our hectic lives make it easy to get so caught up in the busyness of today’s fast-paced lifestyle. We often lose touch with our relatives. The observance reminds us to stop for a moment, take some much-needed time and visit those relatives we care about and have not seen or spoken to for a while.Sometimes it is hard when families do not live close. Often siblings, cousins, parents, and dear relatives are scattered across the country. A visit can be a phone call or a face-to-face live chat on the computer. With today’s technology, we are now able to communicate with loved ones living far away, yet seeing them as if they are right beside us.Life is much too short not to make time for family.
I was first on the delivery schedule for the w/d this morning. While they were loading up the old ones, I vacuumed and wet mopped as quickly and much as I could. I only found one missing sock behind the washer. Now I’m doing laundry.
I have to put a bigger litter box in the kitten room. They were starting to fling it out a bit.
I got some rather shocking and disturbing news this afternoon. It scares me a bit to say this, but I guess my cats and I are lucky to be alive right now. MGE was here today to change out my gas meter. After they did that, they had to relight my pilot lights on the furnace & water heater. And they found a serious problem with the water heater. It’s supposed to be venting through my chimney, but the chimney is blocked and that’s blocking the vent so but for the grace of God (or the fact my house and basement are not exactly air tight), he said I’m lucky the house did not fill up with carbon monoxide. He had to shut off my water heater and I’m having someone coming tomorrow to look at my chimney to see if it can be cleared out or if I need to vent the water heater in a different way. It’s either that or get a new water heater – a direct vent type. I don’t know what that might cost, but I’d sure hate to have to do that since my water heater isn’t very old. But whatever it takes (I hope if I need a new water heater it doesn’t cost too much). So, I’m happy to be alive and on vacation so I can deal with this scary issue however I need to.
Chesney really should have looked behind him. You never know when Lily will show up. Glad Oliver got to be on the radio. On another note, saw seven robins, a Wilson’s warbler, and two juncos while out walking today.
