Only five more days – this has been the longest school year! At least, it has felt that way. About a fifth opted for distance learning and at least two grade levels came back mid-year. All the rest had class on campus right from the start last August.
If there is one silver lining in the whole distance learning thing it’s that schools have it “in their pocket” as an emergency plan for inclement weather.
Also kids who have managed to adapt are probably better prepared to take online courses as adults.
My laptop just died, and I got a new tablet. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! It’s set up just like my “big” computer, so I’ll be having a great summer, too. (No learning curve. . .)
I think they need to change the name of this strip to A.D. because of all the modern references. B.C and the gang could be thrust into the future through some anomaly portal and then they could use all the modern conveniences without questioning by the readers. After all “Over The Hedge” got a short T-Rex named George that way.
My son has his school issued chromebook open in front of his computer, and he games of watches youtube or whatever. The teachers think he’s paying attention. He gets all As, so who am I to complain?
My household looks a lot like that. The teenagers finished their computer based learning and plan to spend most of the summer on their computers. We are working on ways to get them to go outside and spend time with friends.

So they did have laptops and pandemics during BC times but they were so small that ants were the only ones that were affected.

My grandchildren have been going to actual school. Sure, they use computers during class, but they are in class.

Tablets down, laptop gaming on. Sounds just like how two of my nephews spend their summer.
