One of my uncles was a Michigan state cop for over 30 years, he told some really funny stories about people he stopped and their excuses. My favorite was when he stopped a car that was weaving all over the hiway. Had to follow the car for sometime as the driver did not stop. Then when he finally got up to the driver he discovered that the man was blind.
I heard a lot of excuses during my time as a Police Officer and some even worked. However, that one would not have worked. It might have made me smile. But a ticket she would have received…..

But officer, I WAS driving only “one-way!!!” A car that drives both ways has not been invented — yet!!

If she is driving in reverse then so was the police officer. If that’s his patrol car.

She’s as much a Born Loser as her husband and son. What a perfect little family.

Technically, she was reversing. I don’t think you can give her a ticket for that.

Somehow I don’t think her reverse psychology is going to work on the cop.

But Officer, this is the right way home, so will you let me off with just a warning?

“Don’t be silly, Officer! Who’d give a driver’s license to me?”

The other answer to the policeman is “I’m only driving one way”.

I am quite sure that really happened.

Well Gladys is certainly self aware, she just isn’t too bright.

You can defend against that logic.

There is an excellent chance that, somewhere, a driver has told a cop that for real, at least once.
