This is the usual reference post so people who choose to read about and discuss the history of Gasoline Alley can put their comments in replies. Those who don’t can bypass the discussion by leaving the replies closed. Fair for everyone, I think.
“Nothing like scrolling down to find some good comments on this story arc, as I have on numerous occasions in the past, and finding the featured comment is—IMHO—a daily spamming comment about the comic strip in the past.”
You might try dropping a line immediately at turnover which comes right about 11:05 Mountain time. GC is in the Central time zone, so a little after 12. Beat the Spammers. Tally ho !!!
Hi folks,I found this site a few years ago and began reading GA as far back as it went, and only just now have I finally caught up with it — I’d visit and read a bunch, then slack off, and also reading the comments slowed down the process! And then, following the links to 100 years ago, 60, etc., helped me enjoy a lot more GA but likewise made this a much more… leisurely stroll. So I’m confused about something. For a time I was following the links provided by @StuDolgon for those old strips, but then suddenly his moniker stopped showing up — although it seemed like people were still posting comments to his now nonexistent entries. This was maybe six months ago but for me it was just some days ago when I was catching up with the past year’s worth of strips.I wondered if somehow that moniker had been cancelled for some reason, but I found an apparent “live” clickable @StuDolgon and clicked through to see it resolve to a profile for @Pony21? But then I noticed Pony21 referring to Stu in the third person, which makes it unclear that this was a simple change of moniker… but why would Stu’s @ name redirect that way? If here it shows up as a clickable link could someone else check that?P.S. – I first read GA in the ‘70s when handled by Dick Moores. I remember liking the character of “Pert” — apparently he’s since died off-screen, and since I’m missing a lot of history between that time and where it picks up here — I’m wondering if other than Pert, have other old characters like Avery and Doc been even just referred to as now deceased?
It’s Colonel Bleep looking for Scratch the Caveman. He and Rufus used to be an item back in the day in the Castro and San Francisco. Most don’t know that fact about Rufus!

Joel must have heard that the CIA is declassifying their UFO reports.
And if there’s anything Joel knows best, it’s being de-classed ; )

Further proof that they should be committed. Or at least tossed into the hoosegow. Whatever it takes to get the focus off of them, anyway.

I am very glad that Joel is finally getting to tell his story. It is important for Rufus to listen more and interrupt less.

Lost internet access for week and a half, now I’m back…I see the pace of the storyline is about as usual, e.g. ssllooowww. No surprise!
