    When I set mouse-traps, I generally use peanut butter. Though at the recommendation of the intra-web-oracle, I’ve started using chocolate.

    Just FYI, here are approximate success rates. Don’t ask what the percentages are. They’re partly based on “first I used raisins and caught N mice, then I used PB and caught nearly half again as many”; and partly on “caught the first mouse in under M hours” … but I didn’t keep close track, and of course mice come in to be trapped in greater numbers during some parts of the year.

    Raisins: 50% or so

    Peanut butter: 70% or so

    Chocolate: 85% or so

    We used to set mouse traps on the farm. It would be literally impossible for him to get caught this way. The trap is drawn upside down for it to actually work. I know, I know, it’s a cartoon. But can we at least obey the laws of physics?
