    They say funerals are more for the living than for the deceased. That may also be true of visiting their graves. We do so because we get something out of it, a sense of pride in those that came before us, a sense of fulfillment and self reflection, a sense that it makes us a better person. It doesn’t matter whether they know or don’t know, we know. Brutus has it absolutely right.

    My Father, 3 Uncles, & 1 Great Uncle served in WWII and 1 aunt who as a civilian worked at the White House and Pentagon. Except for one Uncle all served in the Pacific theater. Thankfully all survived. The Uncle that served in Europe and North Africa lost 2 brothers in Tunisia two weeks apart. The other casualty was their mother who died of a broken heart less than a month later.
