National 529 Day. May 29th is National 529 Day – reminding families and friends that it has never been easier to help save for a child’s future. By contributing to a 529 savings plan, you help prepare a child for whatever path they choose. Earnings grow tax-free on the federal level, and in most states, if savings are withdrawn to pay for qualified tuition and other expenses.
National Coq Au Vin Day. Coq au vin is French braise of chicken, cooked with wine, lardons (salt pork), mushrooms, and garlic.A French staple, Coq au vin translates to “rooster with wine.” It’s a rustic, peasant-style dish that is easy to serve when entertaining because a lot of the work can be done in advance.Different legends tell of Coq au vin back in the days of Gaul and Julius Caesar. However, the first documented recipe was in the early 20th century. There was a somewhat similar recipe, poulet au vin blanc, that appeared in an 1864 cookbook.
It’s 2:00 am and it’s 35° out. I spent most of the day at work on Friday protecting plants from tonight’s possible frost. I brought the most tender plants inside our “garage” area. I also brought in the 6 racks of new annuals. Then starting at around 7:30 pm, I started covering the vegetable plants and all the rest of the annuals with frost cloth. I was briefly interrupted from that job when a plant truck arrived with 4 racks of perennials. I had to check those in. Luckily, they can handle the frost if it comes. I didn’t finish covering the plants until about 10:00. It was a lot of plants and the breeze picked up and kept uncovering things. I dread the thought of what I’ll likely see when I get to work Saturday afternoon. I expect that nobody will have put the plants back outside so I’ll get to do it all myself. I expect the frost cloth to be removed from the plants and left in piles or stuffed in shopping carts waiting for me to properly fold and put back in the battery room where we store them. Nobody helped cover the plants and I don’t expect any help with anything on Saturday either.
When I got home from work, I had my own plants to cover. I had some tomato plants in big flower pots and green beans in planters. But it only took a few minutes to cover that stuff. Luckily, I didn’t plant any tomatoes out in my main garden at Mark’s place yet. I plan on doing that next week. This had better be our last frosty night (hopefully, there won’t be any frost) until late fall.
A chapter written by each kitty would be interesting, and very contradictory the Chesney’s. 90s today, and close to 100 next week. I’ll be cranky for the next 4 months.
Hmm, that novel sounds unfairly biased. I suppose they say write what you know, but in Chesney’s case, it might be write what you don’t know. On another note, saw three rabbits, eight robins, and an orange butterfly While out walking today.

A novel? That’s quite a huge undertaking for anyone, but especially for a cat!

I really don’t see Chesney having the attention span required to write a novel.
