National Say Something Nice Day. Okay, here goes – “Something Nice”
World Reef Awareness Day
National Go Barefoot Day. I will until it’s time to go to work. But they won’t let us go barefoot at work.
National Olive Day
National Nail Polish Day
National Heimlich Maneuver Day
National Hazelnut Cake Day
National Pen Pal Day. Does anyone actually have a pen pal these days? I used to have some, but I lost touch with all but one of them who became an actual friend. But we correspond by email and sometimes phone calls. I don’t have any pen pals now.
We’re finally supposed to get warm at the end of this week with highs in the mid to upper 80’s (I LOVE it!). Yesterday, I hoed my garden. I have corn and green beans looking good (a few bean plants got nipped by frost when we had that cold night recently, but I’m talking of maybe 3 plants out of around 200). I also have squash and watermelons just starting to come up. I planted more green beans and stuck 6 tomato plants in the ground. I was going to plant more corn and more tomato plants, but I ran out of steam after spending 2 hours and 45 minutes in the garden. I hope I can do more on Thursday. I’m getting my first COVID shot on Wednesday and I don’t know what kind of side effects I might have. I’m off Thursday though. Walmart is also letting us take 3 paid COVID days off for each shot if we have ill effects from the shot. We can actually take 2 weeks off (paid) if we get a doctor’s consent to that. I hope it won’t come to that! Anyway, if the shot doesn’t leave me fatigued on Thursday, I’ll plant the rest of the garden and do more weeding. Oh yeah – Walmart is also paying associates $75 for getting vaccinated.
OT … My 4 days of necessary annoyance will be completed this afternoon when National Grid hooks my house up to the new gas line they installed along my street last year. SUCH jack hammering!!! Last Saturday, Sunday and Monday a handyman redid my 3rd floor apartment bathroom and kitchen ceilings as they had skylight rain leakage damage. The roof was re-silvered last fall. Tonight my daughter comes (she + hubby still work in Manhattan but moved to CT last week). My grandkitty, Plopper Cat, survived the car ride from Manhattan to CT. Soon a feline companion for him will be adopted from a no kill shelter. Exciting times.
If anyone should move, it’s Chesney. (To the loading dock, that is.) On another note, saw four robins, three rabbits, two Wilson’s warbler, a junco, and two millipedes while out walking today.

Chesney, shut up and leave Annie in peace (and not pieces, as you intend).

Chesney would be heartbroken if Annie actually moved away.
