A family of voles (chunky and with shorter tails than mice) lives in/around my property and unlike in previous years, is making felling my flowers and dill (for the swallowtail butterflies) their priority. They don’t eat it so sometimes I can make the snipped flowers into a bouquet. I set a trap for them last night but have doubts it will entice them. We’re not to have outside cats in our little community, and I’ve not seen the hawk for weeks.
Grass hoppers here. Third year in a row. By August they will eat anything and everything. Many plants didn’t survive the assualt of last year. Please, we need a really harsh, horrible winter in order to conquer these beasts. Yes, I"m asking for a truly terrible winter in Montana.

The kids probably sabotaged the vegetable garden with herbicide.
