On Perry Mason there were almost always two puzzles… who is going to be murdered (spot the most despicable person) and eliminate the red herrings since a plethora of people usually have more than enough reason to off the despicable person. A friend of mine had a hypothesis that it was whomever was in the witness chair with about 20min left in the episode.
I am very good at figuring out “who dun it” as my dad was and taught me how he figured it out. (Example – there was a jigsaw puzzle of “Man from Uncle” that when assembled was a clue to the resolution of the mystery presented, in this case it involved microfilm which was gone – dad figured out that Solo had burned it – as there had been smoke in an ashtray and Solo did smoke – it was the correct answer.
When we saw the movie “Knives Out”I figured out who was going to do it – before it was done! No, I don’t tell husband and ruin it for him – I never ruin it for him.

My trouble with mystery shows is I doze off right at the end and still don’t know who dunnit.
