@Linguist Today’s strip IS funny after our HERO Mr Andrew Capp got dragged to church services by Flo it was insensitive of the Vicar to squash Andy’s suggestion it would have been a sure money maker :o) my avatar is a photo of a cat ignoring her carer calling like our three legged calico queen Bella does me, she only answers her mummy , Connie, come avete passato il vostro Sabato mio meno vecchio amicho? our day should be a little busy but calm I hope , no shopping to be done or errands to run and we are both in a good mood again, keep safe and a bientot friend
As a fellow survivor of a preparatory seminary, all I can say is that Army basic training was a piece of cake!
All kidding aside, I am forever grateful for the education, the discipline, the study skills, and the thirst for knowledge I obtained there. My two years not only prepared me for college, the military, and a career(s), but also for whatever life threw at me.

Andy thought you wanted the congregation to get into the “spirits” of the event and planned accordingly…

At least Andy is trying to get into the spirit of the thing. Trying to ferment good cheer among the stout people of the Church.

I’m confused… I’ve yet to have been to a village church event where there hasn’t been a beer tent, organised by the local pub…
If there was any objection to Andy’s suggestion… it might be that Andy had an unfair advantage… from all the practice he has had…

But vicar, that’s a bit petty, suffocating creative minds like that…

I thought the church — and therefore its events — should be about cooperation rather than competition.

Well, I’d at least like to know what “a yard of ale” is. Must be a British thing.

Never criticize anyone until you’ve walked a yard in their shoes.

So Andy says. “Fine, less competition for me”.

Andy only wanted the ale competition so he could show off.

Might I remind the vicar that it was the monks that brewed the finest beer in Europe!

Knowing Andy, he’d probably drink up the whole yard!
