The good ones require 36" of schedule 160 pipe and an electric launch console.

In and around where I live the only thing we can buy is the relatively tame stuff

An hours drive north takes us to Wyoming, where apparently anything is legal

Many of my neighbors must take the trip north

The local meteorologist here in Detroit can verify that fireworks are dangerous as years ago he lost an eye when a firework blew up in his face.

They don’t make asbestos gloves anymore so probably also not “street legal”.

Living just across the bridge from Oregon has it’s advantages for the fireworks buyers. Much stricter regulations in Oregon than Washington. We have hoards of cars at most all the stands here. They do go off in PDX. The police can’t get to all of them so they take their chances.

I like this strip, but am now waiting for a storyline glorifying other irresponsibly reckless behavior. Drunk driving? Masklessness in a pandemic? Yeehaw.

What Clayton really wants Adam to have purchased is something that can have the same effect as the fireworks in that classic internet video. You know, the one with the dialogue “G** D*** bootleg fireworks!”

hopefully not really asbestos gloves. Just some heavy duty welders gloves. That belonged to the welder that lit one of those last year

No fireworks are “street legal” here – not even sparklers.

So why was able to see two different major, professional style sets of fireworks going off plus hear LOTS of them, plus the “smaller” ones I could still going off over houses plus the fellow up the block in the middle of the 4 lane main road we live on shooting things off – high and low explosion – while the cars were trying to drive through without exploding? And that was just on the 4th – they have been shooting off noisy ones for over a week and again tonight (the 5th).

I don’t like fireworks to begin with – the noise upsets me (and I have fired a repro 18th century 2 pounder cannon at a number of events of our reenactment unit) and I don’t like them in the hands of idiots where the remnants are coming down on our roof. Had I called the police I am sure I would have had problems with these people for quite some time.

Husband estimates just the fellow in the street set over well over US$1000 of fireworks – and he (or someone he knows) had to drive out of state to buy them with the expense of the gas and tolls and time.

It never used to be like this. A few firecrackers maybe – but not like we are in a war zone.
