If they were worried about him going for help, Tarzan should have just dispatched him to begin with.

Larson said I bet they wouldn’t order me around if I’d worn my big boy pants.

We all know that dunderkopf Swede Larson is a slow-moving dimwit and will most likely never see the end of this twisted tale alive. He appears to be quite jealous of Helen and D’Arnot’s affection for one another, then again perhaps that sly Frenchman is poking around in search of that hidden salami…… Better not try that with Letha Msr. Mon Dieu, she’ll slice your creeping fingers off! Py Jiminey, Oy Vey, Oui Oui and By Buddha!

    Invisible guard?

    Well-fed ape?

Large snake with a new bulge?

“Darn it! The guard is gone! We should have buried him!,” exclaimed Larson. “Giant, prehistoric, pit-dwelling apes gotta eat, same as worms,” replied Tarzan, laconically.

Kamchak of the Tujuks on the planet Gor once said you should never leave a living enemy behind you.
