Fortunately, a book is not a “Vast wasteland”.

What would happen to TVs if everyone started to read instead? And what would happen to advertisers?

Books are way much older than you, television. You’re just approximately one century in age whereas books are approximately one millennium — maybe two or three — in age.

I’d rather read a good book than watch television any day. We’ve got about 20 books (mostly paperbacks) ready to donate to the library for their used book sale once they’re up and running again.

I’m not sure why everyone just accepts the idea that TV and books can’t co-exist—that you must give up one for the other—or that books are somehow superior to TV. I read dozens of books a year, but I also watch TV: both media have the potential to be entertaining and educational, and both have their advantages. It’s all about choice: TV can show “mindless” entertainment, or great TV shows, or documentaries. Books give you comics or encyclopedias, or great novels and biographies.

That computer is older than Lio, thanks to Lio never aging. There seems to be a 3.5" floppy drive.

That’s why they push e-reader so hard… so they can slip ads into your reading material…

Books good, TV bad… sheesh! Get off it already. Both activities have you sitting on the couch for hours.

My brain said “he’s pulling a dvd off the self”, and then failed to get the joke. It didn’t even think of book.

Television just jealous. It knows books are better.
