I know a family where it was the father who quit his job when the two sons were born. He was the stay-at-home parent for the first 12 years. Both sons got into Ivy league schools with scholarships. The Mother was a professor of sociology at the local university. She used to say that, in parenting, love is spelled t-i-m-e.
Good one! Reminds me of one of my favorite Calvin & Hobbes, where Dad sees Calvin playing in the snow and decides he needs to get out there and have some fun with his kid. One of the very few C&H strips that ends on a positive note.
My best times were going to work with my dad – great memories from when I was young. I ended in the same profession as him and in later years worked for him and now have what is left of his practice.
Most of my current practice is old (in terms of their age and how long they have been clients) clients of dad’s. This past tax season one couple had not received forms from their broker and I contacted him to get copies for them (the wife emailed him to let I was okay to get what I needed). We chatted a bit of course, and the broker said that whatever I needed for them he would fax over, they were such long time clients of his – since the early 2000s. I smiled at this and did not tell him – they have been clients of dad and then me since the 1960s.

Great strip; but perfect winter ice & snow conditions can be more fleeting.
