they aren’t insane. you were just younger and could help out more when their business wasn’t thriving. Kudos to them for making their business a success.
yep. And having a wife who owned a tavern/restaurant in a summer resort area, she worked over 100 hours a week for 20 years. Of course, after I finally talked her into retiring it took several years before she learned to relax and figure out that not everything had to be done before she stopped-almost cut a finger off while working in our garden at almost 11 pm-that finally drove home the fact that she no longer had to work so much every day. Slow down and smell the roses.

Thank you for explaining, Arlo. More about why you can’t keep up than insanity of business owners.

No Arlo, it’s just that you’ve slowed down.

I think it takes some insanity or we’d never try. Glad you’re feeling O.K. Arlo.

I read that Arlo got his name from Arlo Guthrie. I wonder what the connection is/was.

They were raised right – work hard, achieve your dreams, end of the day you lay down and are proud of what you have done

Just stick with washing the dishes. That’s the entry level position.

I see our eponymous couple are engaged in that wonderful Southern tradition, sitting on the front porch and “just swingin’.”

I would be bored out of my mind working in a restaurants. Just because your busy doesn’t mean that your getting something out of the job.

Who are the real insane people; those who are actually insane or those who facilitate those insane people in their insane actions?…..

I think he means the kids are ambitious and there is nothing wrong with that. It is not for Arlo and that is fine too.
christelisbetty over 3 years ago
Insanity is hereditary, you get it from your kids.
rfeinberg over 3 years ago
If the kids are so dang busy why not 1) hire seasonal help 2) raise the prices a notch

When Alice Brock wrote her book, she visited MSU. I got her autograph. I keep it with my copy of “Alice’s Restaurant.”
