National Sugar Cookie Day. I’ll have to pass on those because I just made chocolate chip cookies last night.
Collector Car Appreciation Day
My first day back to work after a 6 day vacation. Rats! I didn’t get much done in the garden like I wanted to because Paul needed me here to help on some of the home repair projects. More vacation coming in August though!
Home improvement projects – final chapter (at least for now). Paul ran into so many unexpected problems installing the new toilet and sink that he never got the floor in the front room fixed. But he did fix the problem where the water supply valve to the toilet was leaking, so I have a functional toilet. No more leak. The sink presented its own problems as I have old plumbing and things just are not “standard” fittings. He had a big problem with the drainpipe and a guy from the local hardware store actually followed him to my house so he could see what was needed to fix the drain. I was amazed at that – the guy actually working on my sink. He figured out what we needed to fix that, but then Paul ran into trouble with connecting the water supply to the sink. So, I don’t have a functioning sink and I’ll need a plumber to finish the job. I’ll have him check the supply pipe to the toilet too, to make sure it’s good. But all the work Paul did fixing the bathroom floor and installing the toilet and fixing the ceiling in the front room (which also required my muscles to accomplish), still probably saved me at least $1500 in labor. A professional would have done a better job on the ceiling than we did, but I’m okay with it as it is. I still need to finish by putting joint compound over the screws in the ceiling, but I’ll get that done eventually. But I really like my new bathroom and it will be even better when I can start using the sink.
To all who followed my snake tales…After it electrocuted itself, I did not think I would miss hearing the rat snake in the attic. Until today. I opened my buns to make a barbeque sandwich, and the bun I chose had a hole in it. The sack also had a hole “nibbled” in it. Aaargh, the mice already know they are safe to pillage and plunder in my kitchen. How do you call a snake. Ah, yes, a flute sort of instrument…

Of all the things I worry about, I’ve never worried about wagging wattles. Now I will have to add that to the list. Thanks cats!!

Since when is Chesney a friend to any dog? Talk about false advertising. On another note, saw three rabbits and a robin while out walking today.
