My insurance company sends around an actual MD every year to poke my foot with a thin wire and run my urine through some test kit (s)he brings with. And ask how I’m feeling. They pay me about $15 to let it happen. I suppose some of their clients may not see any other doctor? But I’ve been super unimpressed: The two or three of these folks who we’ve seen are pretty poor specimens of “Doctor”.
I loved reading Wiley’s not-so-subtle messages: O You’re so screwed. Come to think of it, the whole world is screwed. Probably will take years to return to normal.
The fun part is Covid deniers say that the survival rate is 99.9% or something. But they don’t mention the fact that the hospital bill can be as high as $250,000. $150,000 even with insurance!!!
There has been no true free market in health care since the 40’s. That is when health insurance became a government protected cartel with exemption from anti-trust laws when Congress passed the Mccarran Ferguson act. The insurance companies, over the decades, have been allowed to collude to fix prices and be shielded from Federal controls on anti-trust that apply to other businesses. THen the grand daddy government empowerment plan passed with Obamacare. It actually gives extensive rationing power to insurance companies and actually transfers federal tax dollars to them as subsidies. All (uneared/unjust) Profit. All Power. Bad products, increased price. Only the government could produce such a “free” market.
A true free market would allow interstate competition, remove government set price fixing that drive up costs for young and healthy and end so called “value-based purchasing” that penalize doctors that don’t ration care.
@Say What Now‽ – “I have one question; What is wrong with you ’mericans?”
Let us start with the fact that out of the 195 countries in the world the USA is one out of only three that retain the Imperial System of measurement rather than the Metric System.
I heard that Donald Dumpster is getting in to the health insurance business—its Eye Chart will be URGOINTODIE………..with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumber as the administrators!

Curiously, many of the same people who think the Profit Motive should dictate life and death ALSO claim this is a “Christian” country.

total abject blithering greed on the part of the wealthy. The only thing they are willing to spend their money on is buying congress.
