Apteryx: “Feeling a little naked here!”

Did it suddenly get c-c-cold here?

Stress (especially from a predator attack) can cause a bird’s feathers to fall out. Feathers can grow back – it can take a few weeks or a few months for them to return to normal.

Wow….that “Honk” must have been much greater than 120 decibels to blow the feathers of of him like that.

Guess he doesn’t have his feathers numbered. For this type of emergency.

Grog did that to him once, a long time ago. But then it was “GROG” not HONK.

And we wonder (at least some of us) why the apteryx became extinct.

He just got goosed….

My favourite apteryx cartoon is still the one from 50, 60 years ago of him popping out from behind a “gift” rock in Christmas clothes to announce “Hi there! I am an apterclaus, a wingless toy monger with batteries not included.”

Wow, you could knock him down with a feather!
