First time I saw a back-to-school advertisement in July, all I could think of was “You poor kids.” I’m 61 and I STILL feel that sicking, hollow feeling I got the first time I saw those 3 dreaded words in August during summer vacation while in grade school.
State I live in and Metro town, school started with Freshman on Wednesday and official on Thursday. Teacher’s week before brought their material for class and ready class in 3 days. all in-school learning.
Remember in the before time of seeing B2S commercials on the 2nd or 5th of July depending on being in Canada or USA. Hudson Bay Company stores had big B2S sales on July 2nd.
Schools around here started this past week. When I was a youngster we usually went to scout camp this time of August and school didn’t start until Labor Day and out by Memorial Day. Of course we only had three four day weekends (Teacher’s Institute in October, Thanksgiving, and Easter break. School until the 23rd of December and back on the 3rd.
