Not many girls of Agnes’ age are as articulate as she is, or wish to be as she does. “Delectable” is beyond the vocabulary of most of them. Sure, Agnes often makes up words too, but I think that’s just because she wants to have an expanded vocabulary … more so than Trout, who is only interested in Agnes’ word usage because she wants to know what Agnes means, not necessarily what the word means.
Agnes has the makings of a politician — she does a nice job of dodging Trout’s question in panel one.
As for the rest of it, the old man could have a neighbor who came from Mars. So anything concocted by that person would by definition be a Martian recipe (even if it only uses terrestrial ingredients). So it doesn’t necessarily have to mean there’s anything gross or repulsive connected to these sandwiches. (Just hoping the old man doesn’t have a late wife named Martia.)
That said, I believe Occam’s Razor is a fairly good guiding principal here. Based on past experience with Agnes and her endeavors (kindest word I could think of) in the kitchen, I wouldn’t go near those sandwiches.

I’m kind of concerned that Agnes is hanging around with an adult male. Does Grandma know?

“How many Martians per sandwich?”
“Just a tentacle per 100. Marty regenerates fairly quickly.”
