You know something the pausing for a moment of silence during a funeral now makes sense to me. I wonder how many people revived during a funeral due to the noise, jostling of the coffin/body and were saved from burial due to making noise during that moment of silence? No one wanted to think about possibly being buried alive so making it a moment of prayer gave a reason for people to accept the return of their loved one from the dead as an answer to their prayers. Ties into Snow White waking up in her coffin when it was jostled as well. I know examples exist of people being buried alive but now i’m wondering how common a problem it actually was?
I find it interesting how cartoons always show a headstone by an open, or freshly filled, grave. In my real life observations, the headstone doesn’t get there until months, possibly years, after the burial.

That scratching on the lid is creeping me out. Let’s start shovelling the dirt back in.
