Every billionaire broke or manipulated the rules and ruined other people’s lives to get there. There is no reason to allow them to exist — and we would be better off without them. And don’t give me the whole, “Without them we never would have gotten this far garbage” what they’ve gotten us is on the brink of ruin.
When I hear and read about these private companies/citizens going into space it always reminds me of the Sci-fi movies from the 50’s where it was indeed such people and companies that was leading the race into space to avoid the politics and intrusions of the federal government. Movies such as George Pal’s “Destination Moon” from 1950 is a prime example of that.
And although the rich want that area cordoned off and exclusively theirs, they will expect the public to pay for its maintenance…
Around here, there was a gated community that refused entry to anyone who didn’t live there – even delivery trucks were stopped at the gate, and packages were transferred to golf carts for the community’s security officers to deliver. If a repairman or contractor needed to get in, first he had to go through a tough vetting process.
When the roads in that gated community needed repaving, the residents petitioned the State to do it… the State was slow to respond (bureaucracy), so the residents got impatient and sued the State… the courts determined that the State could only repave public roads – so either that community had to allow public access, or repave itself. After wasting time and money fighting in court (probably as much as the repaving would have cost) the community opened up and the State repaved its roads. Several residents inside the community were so upset that they moved out.
So soon we can expect an Elysium like space station, for Hollywood’s rich and famous. (gated with heavy security of course) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oIBtePb-dGY
Shared security guards and community walls, mere millionaires in prime real-estate locations. Billionaires have their own security guards; walls and hedges so high even the nearby mansions can’t see everything and zero neighborhood association rules to deal with.

And you guys weren’t approved by the HOA, so you’ll have to leave.

It’s a nice place, but the Space HOA is a nightmare to deal with.

Space already is a gated community. The key is money.

We haven’t missed them.
